I roll over!

Woo hoo! I rolled from my back to tummy today! Then later I was on my tummy and rolled over to my back. By the way, if you haven't figured it out, this is Caroline, not Graham. He jumps off the furniture and climbs on everything - rolling over would not be a milestone for him. Anyway, about me, I have been working on rolling over for a long time, like at least a week. On the floor, I try to roll over, in my bouncy seat, I try to roll over. Mommy didn't get a picture of me actually rolling over, but take my word for it, I got the job done!

Life still is a lot about sleeping. I moved into my crib a few weeks back. I tend to scoot around especially if I can break out of my swaddle. Mom is so proud of me for being a good sleeper so far. I can sleep 6-7 hours straight many nights, give or take. Gosh I don't know if Graham ever sleeps that long!

I went through a phases where I was kind of Mommy dependent. Mommy and Daddy were supposed to go to a wedding without us kids, but Mommy was afraid I would cry for hours straight at Grandma's. Daddy went to the wedding by himself. Mommy, Graham, and I went to Grandma's. Aunt Deb and her family were there. Everyone was holding me and I did just fine. I guess it isn't so bad to let other people take care of me.

Smiling and jabbering are some of my favorite activities. I try to laugh too.

I like to grab things on my bouncy seats and my playmat. You can see below how I grab with my hand, but in one of my seats I get those animals with my feet!

Graham had his birthday party last week. Of course he got lots of attention, but I smiled at everyone. They all thought I was so sweet! It wore me out!Hard to believe I have been around over 14 weeks! I am getting so old! Until next time!

Graham is two!

It might not be as interesting but it is Mom's turn to post. Certain things really just need to be shared from a parent's perspecitve. Like right now, he wanted me to kiss his finger and then he touched one of the wheels on his flatbed truck. What his little mind is thinking...

In his two years, Graham is definitely trying to get the most out of life! He continues to be very active and adventurous. He runs fast, throws well and likes to jump off the furniture. Two words that describe him well are 'all boy'! He is in touch with his feminine side however - he likes to dry his hair like Mommy, will put on make-up, loves to vacuum and likes to play with the seasonings. He will even taste his concoctions - not sure how he doesn't grimace, but he doesn't.
Graham is definitely not an early talker, but his vocabulary continues to expand. Some of the things he says:

Mo peas (More Please)
Bownie (Brownie)
Mowie (Mow and Mower)
Esth (Yes)
Moose
Monkey
Tactor (tractor)
Teat (treat)
Punkin
Goff ball
Wuv you
Hoop (basketball)
Mommy's Wap (lap)
stairs (not sure how to type how he says 'r')
I wimmy! (I swimming!)

All are words that warm our hearts! The clarity at which he says 'no' is amusing though sometimes not the word we want to hear. Of course, we think he is SO smart. Driving down the street and he sees a white Navigator he says - Mommy's car. Most pickups are Daddy's Car or Duck (truck). He loves tractors!

Graham really wants to be helpful with Caroline. Periodically he wants to hold her in his lap. He is getting more confident at trying to pick her up, though it would be disastrous if he actually got a hold of her without an adult around. He wants to help burp her. When she gets a bottle, he likes to help feed her. He now gives more kisses than swats. At nap time, Graham wants to give 'Bebe' a tiss (kiss). Overall as aggressive as he can be, he is quite affectionate.
Based on Graham's activities, I predict he will grow up to be one of the following - stunt person, chef, professional pitcher or quarterback (it won't be long before he throws better than Mommy!), lawn care specialist (fancy words for 'mowing'), housekeeper (dusting, vacuuming, washing dishes seem to be fun stuff), or mountain climber. We will see how my predictions change over the years.

It is hard to believe Graham is already two. We feel lucky that he is ours yet worn out from his endless energy. Happy Birthday big guy!

I am 2 months old!

Hello! This is my debut blog! If you haven't figured it out, this is Caroline not Graham! He hogs the computer (and the attention!) all the time. It is time for me to share my perspective on life. It took me awhile to be awake long enough to have enough stories to share. I admit that my life isn't as exciting as Graham makes his out to be. I mainly sit in the bouncer downstairs, the bouncer in Mommy's bathroom, the carseat or lay on the playmat. That may not be exciting, but give me a break I am only two months old! The pictures above and below were taken on July 3 when I was exactly two months old. Awhile back we all went to Grandma's house. I met Grandma's sister and her family. Aunt Deb and her family were there too. People like to hold babies so I got held a lot. I showed them how well I could hold my head. Aunt Deb was obviously impressed.

Daddy took this cute picture of me at Grandma's house. You can see I have an appreciation for a good paci.
I know Graham already shared that I got baptized. Uncle Greg is my Godfather and Aunt Lisa is my Godmother. She couldn't make it to the baptism so Grandma stood in for her. With all my extended family around I got held a lot again. From what I understand, I cried less than Graham when he was baptized. That doesn't surprise me...Graham is a pretty good older brother. He likes to help mommy once in awhile. Not sure how he thinks he could feed me but he offers. He really likes to kiss me too. When I get older though, I am going to owe him several unprovoked swats. I just lay here and he will whap me - paybacks I tell ya, paybacks. Until then I just get back at him as I can. He really likes to snuggle with Mommy when he gets up from his nap. Well sometimes that just happens to be when I need to eat so Graham has to share Mommy's lap! Boy does that make him cry! He has had lots of attention from Mommy and Daddy. I definitely need to work it so I get my share! Don't get me wrong, I can't wait until I can play with him.

As you probably guessed, I had my two month appointment last week. I measured 23 inches in length ( 75th percentile). I weighed 11 lbs 4 oz ( 60th percentile). My head measured at the 50th percentile. I am good at raising my head up when on my tummy. I like to coo and 'talk' as says Grandma. I also love to move my arms and legs a lot. I have heard Mommy say I am a better sleeper than Graham. Below are some cute pics of me!

Catching up

Hey Graham Fans - Trying to catch up on my work! Like I tell you things are busy around here! Caroline is growing. She doesn't sleep as much, though she still sleeps a lot. As much as she sleeps, she doesn't always sleep when I want her to. When I get up from my nap, I need to snuggle with Mommy. She will decide that she needs held or needs to eat during my snuggle time. I get a little mad.

Mommy, Daddy and I went to Grandma's house to celebrate Grammy's (great grandma's) 90th birthday. Our relatives from Texas were here. When we got to Grandma's, I got to ride the lawn mower and the four wheeler and sit on the tractor! One of my cousins is about my age. We kept taking turns pushing the mower that was our size - I tried to make sure I had more time pushing it. Unfortunately the next day it rained all day so I had to stay inside and play.
We all went out to dinner at the Amana's, then had birthday cake and ice cream at Grammy's house. I like cake!
I like to help out at home. I helped move some dirt around the flower pots and threw it around the deck. For some reason, I am not sure that Mommy and Daddy appreciated it!
The next weekend was Caroline's baptism. Nanny and Grandpa came up on Saturday. It was fun to have company! Mommy, Daddy, Caroline, and I went to a birthday party too. They had a play set in their backyard and some riding toys. There were some other kids to play with too. The neighbors had some fun looking toys so I walked over to check them out. Daddy came and retrieved me however. Anyway on Sunday, Grandma, Grammy, Aunt Deb, Uncle Tim, Sam, Kayla, and Uncle Greg all came. It is great to have all that attention! Of course, I have to share with Caroline now.... I didn't hang out much for the baptism - I like to run around church so that is what I did. I did see Caroline get wet so I guess she is baptized now.

The next weekend we just hung out as a family. We went to the zoo. It is always fun to feed the animals! Caroline didn't get to see anything - just the inside of the stroller! We also went to Chucke Cheese for the first time. I got in the big tubes and couldn't figure out how to get out. Some nice older girl helped my get out!

We have started going to the library for story time again. They have some fun stuff to play with so I like to hang out afterwards and play with the toys. There was also a special music class a couple weeks ago. We sang some of our usual songs. Mommy let me play on the playset outside afterwards. There was a bunch of construction equipment outside so really all the kids just watched the digger and the bobcat.

One of the really, really fun things I did lately was going to an Iowa Cubs game with Daddy. We met up with Eric and Ethan DeVries. Ethan and I ran around and had so much fun! Ethan got lost for a little while which was scary for everyone but we found him and he was okay. A few days later we went to a party at Ethan's house. It was a lot of fun - some kid pools, a sandbox, and plenty of kids. The next night we went to another party at Samantha's house with plenty of kids and fun toys. Ethan and I played together again!

Until next time...

It has been awhile

Hey Graham Fans! Did you think I forgot about all of you? Well I haven't. Life is just busy now with being a big brother. Of course, we were without a computer for several days - apparently it can't handle my 'using' it. I am just lucky Mommy let me post an update - she is watching me like a hawk to make sure I am gentle!

Gosh with so much time that has past, I am not sure I can remember everything that has happened. I will probably post a couple so that this one doesn't get too long! Having a new baby in the house puts a lot of responsibility on me. When Daddy is work, I have to watch out for Mommy AND Caroline. I try to help Mommy the best I can. I pull out all of the diapers sometimes to find just the right one for Bebe. I have volunteered to help Mommy feed her (see below), but for some reason she does it herself.

As you can see, I have also tried to help on the computer, which I guess is why it got sent in for repair. I try to put in Bebe's pacifier. I also use my hand to make sure she is alert - don't want her sleeping too much! (i.e. hitting her). Mommy and Daddy like it when I kiss her so I still do that a lot. Mommy won't let me pick her up yet - I do try. Sometimes Caroline's crying gets old. I will hold Mommy tighter so she can't let go me of to pick her up. Other times I just try to block it out.

It is my job to try out her toys to make sure they are okay! I wouldn't want her to play with them otherwise.

I don't get outside as much as I would like now that Caroline is here, but we still get out. I ride my tractor around the neighborhood. The girls in the cul de sac like to ride it. I see it as a bartering tool so I can ride on one of their toys. I have found that summer brings some good food too! Ummm corn on the cob! I can't wait for the Iowa corn!

We had some fun over Memorial Day weekend. Grandpa and Susan, Uncle Brad, Aunt Lisa, and Benjamin came to town for a bbq contest and to celebrate Grandpa's 60th birthday. Daddy's Uncle Brian showed up to surprise Grandpa. It was down at Valley Junction. There was a REALLY nice motorcycle parked by their site. I wasted no time checking it out!I was running around as much as possible. Grandpa too me to hear the band. I like music!Daddy's friends stopped including Elliana and her family. I played with her and of course Cousin Benjamin.

Another weekend Mommy, Caroline and I went to visit Mommy's frind Judy. She has a pool! She tried to get me to go in, but I just played with her from the side. She did have a lot of fun toys to try out!

Well that brings us up to early June. I will try to get another update posted this week that will cover the family activities for June and this 4th of July weekend.

What just happened

Hey Graham Fans! It has been awhile since I posted. My world has changed! Mommy and Daddy have talked about a baby in Mommy's (might I add BIG) tummy. This baby would come live with us. Well the other week Grandma shows up and then the next morning Grandpa shows up early. Mommy and Daddy were hustling around. Grandpa and Daddy let me play outside really early. Before long they loaded up and left - without ME! Grandma and Grandpa kept me entertained all day. It was kind of hard to nap without Mommy. Eventually Uncle Greg showed up. I heard them all talk about 'it' being a girl. Then Nanny shows up and her and Grandpa head out. Grandma and Uncle Greg wanted me to go to bed. I snuggled up with Uncle Greg and then with Grandma, but they tried to put me to bed - no go! Daddy got home and he put me to bed. Strangely Mommy didn't come back with Daddy. So the next morning Daddy leaves again, then Grandma and Nanny took me to this place and Mommy was there! I sat right next to her, then Grandma sat down with my new sister Caroline (long 'i'). I kissed her a lot and liked to hug her. We went back in the afternoon and then Grandma and Uncle Greg took me back. Mommy stayed at this hospital place with Caroline. Another morning started and Daddy left again and I hung out with Grandma. Finally at lunchtime, Mommy was home with Daddy and Caroline too. I missed Mommy and needed some good snuggle time with her. Daddy has been really good about playing with me since Mommy seems to have to take care of Caroline.

We have had several visitors which has been kind of fun when they play with me. It isn't easy having to share Mommy with Caroline - sometimes I really need her to hold me and Caroline is taking up Mommy's time. Sometimes we have to share Mommy's arms and lap. I do my best to take more than my share!!!

One good thing about getting a new sister is the new toys I have received - a remote control car, a truck book, some matchbox trucks, a 'hoop', a Sesame Street DVD, a little etch-a-sketch thing, some balls, a watering can and garden tools. It makes living with a needy baby easier!
Daddy and Mommy took me to this fun place - Pump It Up. They have these blow-up rides. Daddy and I kept going down this slide. It was SO much fun! I hope we get to go back there soon!
We took Caroline to the doctor when she was two weeks old. She weighed 7 lbs 7 oz - Mommy was impressed. She had grown 3/4 of an inch in length too. I got weighed too. When I was at the doctor last, I had lost weight from the previous appointment. I weighed 27 lbs 8 oz - up 2 lbs in three months putting me at the 60th percentile. After going to the doctor I didn't feel well. Mommy took me back to the doctor on Thursday - found out I had Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease. Mommy wondered why I hadn't been sleeping well - she found out my throat hurt!

Gosh what else is new - I am getting better at driving my tractor and I really like to help Dad mow the lawn with my mower. We have gotten some other new things at the house. Check out the pictures!
Caroline sleeps a lot, but seems to need Mommy at the same times I need her. We haven't been able to play at the neighbors - we have to be close to the house so we can check on Caroline if she cries. Sometimes she cries too much!

The Newest Bagby

Caroline Jane Bagby entered the world at 6:18 p.m. May 3. She weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and is 19 1/2 inches long. She has light brown hair - not as much as what Graham came out with, but plenty on the back and sides. We will post more, but wanted to share some pictures to show off our little angel.
